Lehman Brothers is building a world class team of designers, developers, and interaction specialists, all with a dedication to beautiful, highly-functional design. We are currently seeking a motivated, hands-on Web User Interface Senior Information Architect to round out our team.

Our ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a lead role in the research and design efforts for customer and user-facing systems and communications. This position will work to develop strategies and design specifications that will improve the performance, usability and effectiveness of customer facing interfaces. The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in linking business and financial objectives (higher conversion rates, higher retention rates, etc.) with good design aesthetics and an outstanding user experience.

Summary:
The Senior Information Architect is responsible for developing Web UI IA documentation (site maps, transaction flows, schematics, navigation models) for both web sites and applications. This is not a back-seat support role. In addition to collaborating with the Client Partner, as well as other team members, including other Content Strategists and others from our Creative, Technology and Strategy groups, you will also work closely with the client to present and review IA deliverables. A firm understanding of user-centered design processes will be crucial to your success here. Ideal candidates will have a healthy sense of humor and are ready to finally work in a place where they are no longer the smartest person in the room.

Responsibilities:
• Creating the information architecture for transactional, informational, and marketing website
• Understanding target audiences’ needs, tasks, and goals and translating them into creative concepts and functional components
• Working closely with clients to translate business requirements into meaningful interactive experiences
• Leading and/or participating in immersive user research, concept testing, and usability testing
• Developing user personas and scenarios to clarify results of user research and focus the team’s design efforts on the needs of key users
• Collaboratively developing prototypes for demonstration of concepts to clients
• Conducting competitive audits and market research
• Developing and documenting detailed user experience specifications for highly interactive interfaces
• Participating in testing and Quality Assurance of applications and interfaces against set use cases
• Participating in User Experience thought leadership in both the company and the industry
• Creating site maps, process flows, writing use cases, and applying user-centered design methods and techniques.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience working on large, deep sites is strongly preferred (Lehman.com, one of three sites on which this person will initially work, currently has 1100 pages.)
• 5+ years’ experience accomplishing the responsibilities stated above under Summary and Responsibilities and also including the below-mentioned demonstrated abilities and experience
• Demonstrated ability to execute on IA of complex transactional interfaces, taxonomies and metadata frameworks, and templates for content management systems
• Demonstrated experience conducting user research and translating user research into design decisions
• Demonstrated experience using web analytics data to inform design decisions
• Demonstrated ability to develop big ideas, and execute flawlessly against them in a highly collaborative environment
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
• Experience in client services and negotiating business decisions
• High tolerance for ambiguity matched only by your desire to organize it
• Prior experience in UI design for mobile devices a plus
• Degree in a related field, such as Library Science, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Technical Communications, or another research- and writing-oriented liberal arts degree preferred
• Intermediate to expert in Visio. Additional expertise in Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office a plus
• Excellent analytical and process-oriented skills
• Experience working successfully on multiple projects concurrently
• Ability to work collaboratively and well on multi-disciplinary teams
• Prior experience in a consulting firm preferred
• Experience working with financial applications and services a plus
