The Discovery Channel family of networks is seeking an experienced and passionate Web developer to join our in-house creative department.
You will work within an exciting, high-paced, über-creative environment. There is a wide variety of work across multiple networks including Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, The Science Channel and others. You will be challenged and expected to perform at a high level.
Our ideal candidate is someone who:
• Learns new programming languages because it’s fun
• Contributes to open-source projects
• Knows how to say intelligent things in an intelligent way
• Tweets on a regular basis
This position requires:
• 5+ years Web development experience
• Experience with one ore more of the following: Python, Ruby, PHP
• Experience with SQL (we use MySQL)
• Comprehensive understanding of Web Standards
Bonus points for:
• Experience with web application frameworks (Django, Rails, Symfony, etc.)
• Experience with JavaScript and JS frameworks (jQuery, Mootools, Dojo, etc.)
• Experience with version control systems (we use SVN and Git)
• Command line dominance
