Summary
This role is responsible for developing and maintaining the “look and feel” of Yellow Book’s new media products promoting the usability and desirability. The position includes working with user experience and marketing teams creating comps, iterating, and delivering production graphics from approved designs.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop design concepts and systems that support the business goals, user goals, and brand
• Design and implement visual design systems, page comps, site grids, icons, graphical assets, animated GIFs, interactive flash modules etc.
• Develop and maintain style guides (layout rules, typography annotations, etc.) that describe user interfaces
• Create prototypes as needed for concept or usability testing
• Provide input on visual design for Product Design Interface Standards
• Work closely with Marketing ensuring Brand personality is well expressed throughout the visual design.
• Mentor other visual designers within the organization
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Graphic Design, Interface Design, Interaction Design, Communication Design or a related field
• At least 5 years of creative and production experience designing Web sites and/or applications, including concepts, full-fledged design systems, and style guides (layout rules, typography annotations) that describe user interfaces
• Proficiency in a variety of design tools including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash
• Excellent understanding of HTML and CSS, and how design compositions translate to code
• Familiarity with technical issues around web development and ability to work constructively with development teams
• Demonstrated ability to work on collaborative teams or independently
• Ability to manage production and coordinate with the development teams
• Ability to work on multiple projects at once
• Demonstrated ability to produce visual design systems as evidenced by a portfolio or samples of work
