QUALIFICATIONS:

5+ years of software development experience delivering software optimized for enterprise-capable solutions; capable of working in software development projects leveraging a diverse mix of geographically dispersed resources.

3+ years experience with CMS products (preferably in large environments).

1 year experience with version 6.x and 7.x of Vignette, including Content Management (VCM); Vignette Application Portal (VAP) and Vignette Application Builder (VAB), Dynamic Portal Module (DPM).

3+ years of previous experience designing, developing and integrating Portlets using Java or JSR168, J2EE, JSP, WSRP, Servlet, SQL Plus, Oracle PLSQL, UNIX scripting, Tomcat 5.5x, Apache 2.x, and Perl.

Computer Science or related degree

RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this position, you will be part of a dedicated team at iVillage, where you will report to the VP of Development, that works with peers within the team as well as within the great NBC Universal engineering department. The ideal candidate will have a passion for building compelling web sites with a proven ability to design, develop, test and launch components, modules, portlets and widgets.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

All stages of software development including requirements definition, design, architecture, development, testing, support, and maintenance.

Align with specific business units to develop software components to meet the timelines and goals of those units.

Subject matter expertise in key areas of CMS and portal development.

Leverage component library of software modules, through XML Web Services and/or REST, created for reuse across NBC Universal’s Internet properties.

Identify and leverage common requirements and technology for reuse across sites and businesses.

Work with internal software development groups to leverage their technology (e.g. Social Networking, Video Player) in order to streamline and reduce overall development timelines.

Deliver high-level time and effort estimates based on requirements during project kickoffs, refining the estimate at each phase/toll gate.

Work with Business Analysts, Information Architects and Technical Analysts to create and deliver appropriate requirements and specifications to meet business objectives.
DESIRED:

Standard SDLC methodologies (UML, Agile, XP).

End-to-End software development performance tuning and troubleshooting.

Must have the desire to work on new, innovative, cutting edge technologies.

Excellent communications and written skills is a must, as you will be working closely with a larger team of Clients, Project Managers and other Developers on a daily basis.

2+ years of detailed technical experience in Media industry.

Should require minimum direction and have great sense of ownership.
