Truveo is looking for a smart, organized, and technology-minded individual to fill the role of Video Search Associate. In this role, you will be responsible for (1) ensuring the quality of the Truveo video search results and (2) operating and maintaining core components of the Truveo video search engine. The ideal candidate will posess a desire to learn new software technology, a passion for watching the latest web video, and be efficient at organizing and completing tasks.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Continuously surveying popular video sites on the Web to identify newly released video.
- Maintaining and configuring crawling technology to ensure new video is properly indexed.
- Overseeing prioritization and administration for the ingestion of partner video feeds.
- Working with the team to ensure 24×7 coverage of breaking new videos.
- Identifying opportunities to streamline video indexing infrastructure.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Required Skills:
- Solid understanding of HTML and XML.
- An understanding of web technologies sufficient to create a web page from scratch (without the aid of tools).
- Proven ability to organize and complete tasks on time.
- Strong communications skills.
Desired Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of web technologies including: JavaScript, XSL, XPath, and CSS.
- Experience writing regular expressions (RegExp).
- Understanding of SQL syntax.
- Experience with a linux-based editor such as Emacs, vim, or nano.
- Basic understanding of a foreign language is a plus (French or German).
