We’re established (6 years) market leaders in the business tourism industry. Our web applications are used by clients across the UK.
We’re a small, privately owned and run company, operating at a profit and are continuing to grow organically. Each of us are very self-directed and self-motivated, serious about our work – however, we like to have fun as well! We’re looking for someone who is passionate about their work, about not just the code that gets written, but the way it’s done. The process matters to you, we hope. You’ll have experience with Ruby on Rails, Linux, Subversion, Postgres, XHTML and CSS, Javascript/Ajax and have an understanding of other setups (php etc).
What we’re really trying to say is, simply, you’ll have real passion for software – There; that was easier.
At Velvet we don’t do consultancy work, we only work our own products. You’ll get to work on systems where our clients are the users. It’s not a short term thing, we have user groups, newsletters, constant dialog with our clients, and our clients "really like us". We work hard to provide them with the best systems possible.
As well as two live web app systems, we’re just embarking on the redevelopment of our original product, currently client/server. Join us and be involved from the start, use your skills to deliver an amazing web app, see the results and build on it as we take the product into new market areas.
As ever salary is based on experience, somewhere in the range ÂŁ25k ~ ÂŁ35k – come and talk to us if you’re the right fit for us. Everything is negotiable!
We’re based in Swindon, you’ll need to be able to commute to the office, although some home working is a possibility.
