We specialize in Web 2.0, Flash, Flex, AJAX, ASP, PHP, user experience consulting work, and innovative graphic design for the educational technology market.
We’re currently seeking a User Experience / UI Specialist to join our team. The User Experience / UI Specialist produces the functional requirements, wireframes, and storyboard presentations. This position works collaboratively with project managers, designers, developers, and content teams to ensure the functionality, content, design, and overall layout of the software and web programs are user-friendly and meet 508 compliance accessibility requirements. The User Experience Specialist must be highly detailed, sensitive to the needs of the Kindergarten through Grade 12 audience, and be able to translate high-level concepts into wireframe screens that meet the clients’ needs.
This position also creates Functional Specifications, Site Maps, Flow Diagrams, and Use Cases for developers. Skills required include a background in usability, interface design, educational software, and web design. Mastery of Visio, Photoshop, PPT, CSS, and InDesign are essential.The ideal candidate must have the ability to recommend concrete improvements to the overall organization of the product as well as specific components. We are looking for a strategic thinker who is also hands on.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design wire frames, site maps and user flow diagrams for our client projects
Research latest trends in Web 2.0 and Flash/Flex technology to keep abreast of new user experiences.
Translate findings from usability research and customer feedback into user centric designs
Oversee the production team to generate production-ready assets such as images, HTML, CSS which will be used by software developers.
Help define and maintain information architecture for consistency across the Six Red Marbles client products.
Create, implement and enforce the style guide and information architecture for the overall web site
Results-oriented, detail-oriented individual with at least 4+ years of user experience or product development work.
Thorough understanding of web technologies and trends, usability techniques, and best of breed interface solutions.
Ability to translate product requirements into usable assets for the development team.
Proven ability work closely with engineers and product managers throughout all stages of the product cycle.
Demonstrated experience in designing usable web-based interfaces.
SKILLS
Mastery of Visio or equivalent wireframing application.
Expert HTML skills and excellent knowledge of Javascript and CSS
A good understanding of Flash, AJAX, Flex and DHTML
Mastery of Photoshop or equivalent for image creation.
Experience in conducting usability studies and translating the findings into actionable recommendations.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced team environment.
Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work independently.
Experience working within a user-centered design process
