Role: User Experience Designer/Creative Team Lead
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
o As the first fulltime User Experience/Interaction Designer at Medullan, over the next 18 months you will build and then lead a US-based multi-discipline creative team; Expand the team globally thereafter
o Set creative direction and design modeling tools for the team and the company by defining and advocating best practices for new and existing technologies
o While involvement will be heaviest during the discovery and design portions of the lifecycle, contribute to the full lifecycle of projects, from business development, to interaction design, to solution definition
Execution
o Assist in gathering user experience requirements through interviews and workshops with client stakeholders; grow to independently lead workshops thereafter
o Produce enterprise grade designs in a collaborative environment using team-oriented tools and techniques, e.g. white boarding, shared desktops, etc.
o Create estimates and process plans for design-related deliverables
o Design and drive user experience feedback gathering sessions with clients
o Create wireframes, site maps, user interface specifications
Desirable Candidates Will Demonstrate the Following
• An assertive leadership style and ability to integrate into a globally-distributed technology design and implementation team
• An ability to manage other Information Architects, graphic designers, and site developers to deadlines, with clear expectation management with all team counterparts along the way
• A passion for the customer and user success, not just pride in the pure creative designs
• A passion for staying up to date with developments in the field of software design and general human-computer interactions
Our Requirements
• A minimum of four years experience working on commercial grade interaction designs
• A background in visual and interaction design
• Familiarity with usability guidelines a must as well as usability testing experience
• Software skills: Adobe Illustrator, PhotoShop, Omnigraffle, Visio
• A demonstrated strength in verbal communication and writing
• A track record of delivery in a software product or consulting firm
• Ability to work with other disciplines (e.g. software developers, project managers) to achieve an overall client solution that meets both their business and user experience needs
• Ability to facilitate business and user experience requirements from clients
• Graphic design experience desired but not required
• Experience doing design with development teams that utilize Agile methodologies is a plus
• Experience with, and interest, in Globally Distributed Delivery is a plus
