A growing well established Toronto company is searching for a software developer to join our IT team. This position will be responsible for software development and testing using a number of technologies including Ruby/Rails and PHP/Symfony.
The ideal candidate would have 1-3 years of experience, understands the importance of standards based development and willing to learn on the job. They would also have Linux system administration experience and be open to learning a variety of technologies.
Knowledge and Experience:
Must Have:
• experience with at least two MVC web development frameworks, ideally Ruby on Rails* and Symfony.
• experience in LAMP (Linux + Apache + MySQL + PHP)
• be comfortable with working on Linux servers—e.g. editing Apache config files, managing init.d services, shell scripting, etc.
• be able to demonstrate past web development work (provide URLs or screenshots).
• be skilled in Eclipse/Apatana IDE and Subversion
• be willing to learn on the job, not be afraid to embrace new tools and technologies.
• Experience with RESTful services is a big plus.
• Ability to communicate fluently in English
Nice to Have:
• Experience with RESTful services is a big plus.
• Knowledge and experience in database design and management
Education:
Must have university or college degree/diploma in computer related studies or equivalent experience.
