Tribune Interactive, the Internet division of the Tribune Company, is seeking a Software Development Manager responsible for managing a development team using object-oriented frameworks (Ruby on Rails and J2EE) to build high-volume public-facing web sites. There will be an emphasis on delivering new web products to market quickly and providing oversight to multiple software development projects running in parallel. Qualified candidates will have a BS in Computer Science or prior work experience, 7+ years of object-oriented development experience using Java/J2EE, 1+ years of Ruby on Rails experience is a strong plus, 4+ years managing software staff and 4+ years Internet-specific experience. Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, practices, and procedures, with an emphasis on Agile methodologies (XP or Scrum). Proven experience building and supporting consumer-facing web sites. Exemplary interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
