Immediate opening at www.updown.com, a pioneering, funded, social-networking/financial web start-up company in Boston, founded by Harvard Business School MBA students. We launched the site in September 2007 and are seeing robust growth since.
You will work closely with the Product & Designer Manager and the site’s software developers to define and design and user experience for new features on the site.
We need somebody who can take a project from the start and then code it in HTML/CSS/JavaScript. We do not want a specialist who is just a visual designer in Photoshop, or an Information Architect with Visio, or a coder without design skills.
Qualifications
- Expert knowledge of W3C compliant XHTML/CSS/Javascript
- Some formal fine art education, and demonstrated knowledge of typography, layout, color
- Demonstrated experience designing usable web sites in a web 2.0 environment with rich user experiences
- Interest in working in a fast-paced, start-up company
- User of social networking web sites
- Creative problem solving skills and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge/Experience of stock investing is a plus
- Attention to detail
- Able to work on site in Cambridge, MA
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Development Team on the web site interface design and implementation. Help define product roadmaps.
- You will be expected to take the initiative and be proactive, both in terms of finding ways to improve the existing interface and also to ensure new interface functionality is highly usable and of top quality.
- Involvement in the Product Development process
- Deliver projects on time and meeting all specifications and expectations
