User Experience Designer
Description: Under the direction of the Managing Director, Digital Lab works with relevant stakeholders library-wide to implement user experience aspirations in compelling interfaces by applying design methodologies. Translates usability and field research findings into user interaction improvements. Develops and implements wireframes and functional prototypes, as well as production-quality interface code (i.e. HTML/CSS/Javascript). Coordinates creation of visual design elements with Graphics Department. Responsible for keeping current with information architecture and interaction design trends and technologies, and drawing relationships to the library context. Performs related duties as required.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree. Excellent information and visual design skills. Successfully demonstrated mastery of hand-coded semantic XHTML and CSS. Knowledge of cross-browser design issues. Demonstrated knowledge of interaction design and information architecture principles. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to work well collaboratively in small teams.
