The New Republic/TNR.com has an immediate opportunity for an innovative, creative and technically savvy, web production artist. Working with an entrepreneurial and dynamic team, the web master will contribute to the development and maintenance of TNR.com, among US’s leading destinations for online news and commentary.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• An ability to work in a collaborative environment and a desire to turn ideas into reality;
• Work as a team member on large projects, translating wire frames and graphical mocks into finished standards compliant pages;
• Work independently on projects and site maintenance tasks following established guidelines and templates;
• Manage a wide variety of systems and work closely with leading-edge vendors on a daily basis;
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of three (3) years of web production expertise;
• Capable of learning and absorbing new languages and methodologies as needed
• Excellent web development skills
• Expert knowledge of modern web standard page builds including an understanding of cross-browser, cross-platform issues;
• Ability to play a specific role on a team, or work independently, depending on the demands of the projects assigned;
• Ability to handle multiple simultaneous assignments, meet tight deadlines, balance competing demands, and promptly communicate issues;
• Comfortable working in both MAC and Windows environments;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Knowledge of Javascript and DOM scripting is an asset;
• Knowledge of XML and XSLT also an asset
