SEP is expanding its software engineering staff to include a dedicated team of professional test engineers to focus on test engineering, specifically the testing, qualification, verification and validation of software. Test engineering will be a new practice area within SEP because it is so critical to our business.
We say "Professional" because we want people who see testing as a practice; the focus of their career. This excludes people who are only capable of "chimp testing" - the mindless pushing of buttons. The professional test engineer can do many tasks: planning, writing, testing, analyzing, reporting, but also makes ready use of modern tools and approaches. Our initial hires will help define the direction for the group.
We are looking for people who love to learn and tackle problems. Our business is to develop software tools, systems and products for our clients. We subscribe to modern software engineering principles and technologies. We are always working to be better. We like variety.
SEP has been in business since 1988 serving mostly larger companies in data and safety critical fields. Much of the work is for regulated applications.
This is how one of our newer employees describes SEP:
"SEP is in the business of solving problems, hard problems, the kind of problems that really matter. Our projects range from military applications to health care and medical, to energy, automotive, and more. SEP seeks people with real ‘horsepower’ who get the job done. We look for people who are passionate about software and who enjoy a good challenge. We value our people and we value the work they do, so SEP provides a great working environment, competitive salary, monthly employee-run social events, great benefits package and flexible hours. Overtime is the exception rather than the rule. We are expected to keep up to date with the latest technologies through blogs, seminars, forums, books, and classes - both at SEP and through local universities. We help each other and are never scared to ask questions."
There are several positions, all technical, for both entry level and experienced people. A BS degree in a computer software related field is preferred but we will consider equivalent experience. Successful candidates must have experience with automated software testing tools.
