Responsibilities:
* Operating System: Maintaining uptime, patching, configuration changes, user management and performance tuning
* Hardware: Maintaining uptime, requisition and assignment of hardware
* Support: On call support for server issues; complete OS responsibility, uptime/availability of services, 1st level application troubleshooting
* Security: Audits; attack surface, log management and auditing
* Network: Collaborate with network providers to ensure uptime/availability, Provide interface for next level support
* Email: Account management, Patching, Troubleshooting
* System Monitoring: Service availability uptime, application availablility, packet loss, Applicaiton package performance
Requirements:
* 4+ years experience working in a UNIX environment.
* 1+ years database experience (MySQL), including construction of efficient queries and schema creation.
* Experience in a high-volume or critical production service environment.
* Proven technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience.
* Strong expertise in languages such as Shell, Perl and PHP/HTML/JavaScript.
* Experience with monitoring methodologies and NMS platforms such as Nagios.
* Strong understanding of DNS, NFS, TCP/IP and other internet protocols.
* Experience with Mogile FS a plus.
* Experience in application level troubleshooting and monitoring.
* Ability to perform root cause analysis on various services impacting events.
* Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies within a dynamic environment.
* Well organized with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
* Project management and documentation skills.
* Willingness to provide coverage outside normal business hours as needed.
