We’re hunting for a Head of Development – a leader – a visionary.
STEEL is a highly successful digital marketing agency that creates strategically focussed, digital marketing communications for an outstanding client portfolio.
You’ll be responsible for driving the technical direction of the agency, improving standards and inspiring and developing the technical team to deliver excellence in all technical projects.
STEEL was there at the very birth of digital marketing so it’s always been in our blood to innovate. If you’re ready to help drive us to even greater heights, we need to talk.
Specific responsibilities:
- Drive coding and development standards to ever higher levels
- Be fully conversant with industry trends and the online world
- Manage development resource
- Inspire and motivate staff to innovate
- Evolve development practices and procedures and continue to improve agency standards
- Mentor junior staff – Lead senior staff – Inspire the team
- Advise non-technical staff throughout the agency by communicating with them in plain English
- Manage R&D and innovate technical disciplines
- Support the traffic management team to ensure a smooth workflow
- Exploit technical opportunities to support business growth and efficiency
- Deal with project challenges
- Take a lead technical role on pitches to support senior staff in winning new business
Core skills:
- Experience of managing a team
- Good client-facing skills – confident, competent and the ability to communicate powerfully
- Must be able to demonstrate development expertise
- An in-depth understanding of new technologies
- A technical visionary
- A passion to learn new skills, technologies and inspire the team to follow suit
- Excited about all aspects of technology and happy to drive development in Open source, .net or other technologies if they are the right tool for the job
About the STEEL development team:
Currently 10 developers responsible for delivering well crafted, highly accessible, .NET/MS SQL, PHP/mysql driven, content managed websites, microsites and rich Flash environments.
