Core Technology, a leading developer of criminal justice software, is recruiting for the position of Senior Software Engineer. Our development team creates leading edge solutions for local, regional, state and federal criminal justice agencies that assist those agencies with the prevention and resolution of crimes.
Core Technology’s engineering team strives to create the technology that our customers want, while providing features and tools that go beyond the end users expectations. We are looking for individuals that can work well within the structure that we’ve created, yet come to the team with new ideas and methodologies that we can incorporate into the team to improve productivity.
The primary job of a Core Technology Senior Software Engineer is to develop, maintain and update Core Technology’s software. This position requires a significant amount of interaction with our law enforcement customers as well as working closely with our software engineering and project management teams. The individual we hire will be expected to travel in the State of Michigan and potentially throughout the United States.
Responsibilities:
• Design solutions by working closely with other departments and customers
• Ensure that the solution is designed and implemented for the problem that is being solved
• Develop solutions that can be re-used and turned into standard products
• Determine in advance how to test different aspects of the solution before coding begins
• Research and recommend new technology and process methods to be incorporated into the solutions and internal development procedures
• Programming and testing of standard and custom solutions.
• Work closely with other engineers during the design, implementation and testing of the solutions
• Customer interaction that determines the customer’s needs, On-site programming and Troubleshooting
Requirements:
• 5+ years of programming experience (preferably with experience in Java web application development and/or Java database programming)
• A resident in the state of Michigan
• Four year degree (preferably in software engineering)
• Willing to travel in Michigan and throughout the United States
• Can work independently, as well as with the software engineering team
• Passes the State of Michigan background check
