Sr. Information Architect/Human Factors at Vault.com Inc. in New York City

Vault.com—the most trusted name in career information—is seeking an Information Architect with 4+ years of experience creating sitemaps, navigational models, wireframes, user analyses and interaction specifications for large, content-rich and successful websites. The Information Architect will report to the Head of Web Product Management and will support product development efforts during the entire lifecycle from ideation to implementation—collaborating with product managers, interaction designers and stakeholders throughout the company, balancing business priorities, evaluating the competition and evangelizing a user-centered approach while creating a best-of-breed internet experience for our users.

Vault is a 10-year-old, profitable career website and publisher located in Manhattan.

Responsibilities:
• Deliverables include: information architectures (sitemaps), information designs (wireframes), user profiles/personas, task scenarios, usability test plans, content analyses, competitive analyses, interaction specifications, build specifications, presentations about usability best practices, etc.
• Develop an extensible information architecture, navigational model and labeling system for our content-rich, multi-national site
• Conduct user research, usability studies, beta tests and analyze user tracking data to develop the best solutions for our users and our business
• Collaborate with interaction designers, product managers and writers to develop consistent, intuitive and scalable navigation, information design and interaction
• Work with IT to provide content management and other tools which will enable content managers to maintain the integrity of the design and information architecture
• Advocate for the user and evangelize user-centered design methodologies
• Writing code and creating visual designs are NOT a requirement for this position—all other user-experience and content activities are fair game consistent with interest and expertise
• Propose and drive enhancements to all of the above including process improvements

Qualifications:
• Bachelors or graduate degree in Interaction Design, Taxonomy, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction or equivalent
• 4+ years of information architecture experience required; 5+ years preferred
• Must have strong usability interest and expertise
• Must have been principal IA on at least one major redesign
• Some understanding of internet technologies and trends including CSS, video, social networking, content management, user tracking, RSS etc.
