Sr Information Architect at Makeover Solutions, Inc. in New York City

Makeover Solutions, one of the leading consumer beauty Internet sites, is seeking a senior level Information Architect to participate in the re-branding and re-design of our site and online applications. We have a position for a candidate that has experience in content-rich sites and transactional online experiences. The successful candidate will be responsible for re-structuring existing site features and functionality, working with a team on strategizing about new functionality, innovating web 2.0 interaction design, involved in usability testing and site optimization. This is presently a six-month contractor position but might evolve into a full time opportunity.

In addition, the site offers a wide array of editorial and community tools that engage women in conversation, permit rating of each other’s new look and tracking relevant editorial content that makes for a positive and engaging community experience.

Following are the job’s responsibilities, experience and skills required.

Responsibilities:
• Developing thorough, realistic plans that support site objectives
• Work with the internal team to understand our business models and goals and help define site strategy, content, and features for design of the site
• Analyze audiences and their information and functional needs
• Define site architecture and navigation that serves as a blueprint of the site upon which all other aspects are built
• Create wireframes, site maps, schematics, process maps, feature lists, working prototypes and other artifacts to describe the intended user experience
• Adhering to agreed-upon delivery schedule coordinated with Project Managers
• Coordinating with designers, production and writers to make sure site interface communicates and functions successfully for varying technical and performance specifications
• Coordinating with all groups Project Management, Engineering and QA, to direct how final functionality is correctly implemented

Experience:
• Graduate Degree in Human Factors or Interaction Design with some work experience
OR
• 3-5 years of IA/Human Factors work experience
• Leading the User Experience for online transactional and content rich sites and preferably consumer-focused brands
• Experience working on large, complex transactional sites and/or online applications
• Experience observing user research and translating user research into design decisions

Skills:
• Strong knowledge of site design; mastery in principles of Web design (HCI, HTML, CSS)
• Strong knowledge of user interface design processes and methodology
• Working knowledge of User Centered Design Principles and Practices
• Exceptional communication skills
• Good leadership and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented
• Comfortable in a fast-pace environment
• Knowledge of architecture-related software (Illustrator, Photoshop, Fireworks, Visio, OmniGraffle, Acrobat, Fireworks, MS Office)
