The Sony Design Center (Santa Monica) is currently looking for an interaction designer to work as part of the Interaction Design Group developing products for the converging worlds of services, communication, and entertainment, working on user interfaces for a variety of Sony products and services.
Design tasks will include interfaces for online services, consumer electronic products, devices, and interactive systems. Other tasks include generating future concepts, and creating innovative product proposals.
You should have at least 1 to 3 years relevant experience, be a team player, and be able to work under pressure. The Job requires a strong aesthetic sense, creative problem solving skills, and a passion for design.
You will be expected to communicate clearly and effectively to the design, product planning, engineering, and marketing groups. Sony Design Center employees work on highly confidential projects and may have access to confidential company materials. Strict respect of corporate confidentiality requirements is expected.
A bachelors or masters level degree in interaction design, web design, motion graphics or an art & design related field.
An online portfolio, with demonstrated experience in interactive media or motion graphics.
1-3 years of work experience including:
• UI design for on screen software or consumer electronic devices
• Highly interactive front ends for web sites
• Graphic design
• Motion graphics (information graphics rather than video production)
• Interface rapid prototyping.
Mastery of the standard Tools:
• Adobe Photoshop
• Adobe Illustrator
• Adobe Flash
Coding skills:
• Action Script
• JavaScript (desirable)
• Processing (desirable)
Animation:
• Adobe After Effects
3D software (desirable)
