DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS
You will be responsible for designing, implementing, executing and reporting on performance tests for more than a dozen Java and Ruby on Rails web applications that deliver features and services for the full line of Pure Networks products. You will be responsible for environment requirements, configuration and maintenance, as well as for the selection and/or development of the test toolset.
In addition to performance testing expertise for *nix-based applications and services, you also should be well grounded in the principles and practice of more general software testing. You should be able to reproduce, debug, isolate and document problems as well as verifying fixes. You should be responsive, flexible and adapt easily to changing requirements and tight timeframes.
• Demonstrated experience performance testing — including scale and capacity testing, load and stress testing and reliability testing — as well as monitoring and tuning of high-volume, database-driven applications
• Familiar with extant open source and open architecture performance tools and toolkits
• Adept at automating tasks in Java, Python/Jython, Perl, Ruby, Lua or bash
• Strong knowledge of SQL; experience with MySQL databases is highly desired
• Strong practical *nix skills
• Solid understanding of standard Internet protocols (including DNS and HTTP), technologies and architectures
• Experience with Apache and industry-standard Java application containers (experience with Tomcat preferred)
• Demonstrable exploratory testing experience and otherwise working without a net
• 3-5 plus years of experience in quality assurance and testing
• Strong attention to detail and ability to master new technologies quickly
• Strong self starter with a track record of success in academia or industry
