JOB DESCRIPTION:
* Participate in iterative product development
* Implement designs with eye toward maintainability, scalability, performance, and quality
* Work with team of developers, sharing code and tasks to meet product goals
* Manage your time, sequence of tasks, communication with other team members
* Diagnose and fix operational issues with product internal and customer ops
* Unit test code
* Handle routine system administration issues related to your systems and test systems
* Engineers who enjoy solving problems that have never been solved before and who don’t mind the day to day of hard core coding and bug fixes would do well at Abaca
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience. Degree in Physics or computational mathematics would be a plus
* Must be HIGHLY intelligent
* Ability to learn very quickly, and be self motivated in learning
* Self starter. Ability to work individually and with others with little supervision in fast-paced, constantly changing start-up environment
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Excellent analytic and troubleshooting skills
* Demonstrate ability to complete highly detailed tasks with strict attention to quality, completeness and timeliness.
* Strong organizational and self-management skills
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
* Application development experience on Linux platform
* Strong knowledge of Python
* Strong background of OO, MVC-based, web-focused analysis and design
* Knowledge of Internet protocols such as SMTP, LDAP, HTTP, POP3, IMAP, FTP, SNMP, etc.
* Knowledge of Java, C++ or other object-oriented language is a plus.
* Solid understanding and application of Web Services, SOAs, AJAX (Web 2.0 Technologies)
* Experience designing areas of security, performance, capacity and maintainability are a plus
* SQL and schema design experience
* Must have prior work with HTML and MVC paradigms.
* Must understand the general software development release cycle, source management and defect management methodologies in a mixed Microsoft Windows, Macintosh and Linux environment.
