Software Engineer
OVERVIEW
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer with a passion for building great products that will take us to the next level. In this role, you will build innovative Web 2.0 experiences that will reach a demanding set of dedicated users from all around the globe. We are looking for a developer who not only builds software, but also possesses an entrepreneurial spirit that helps us determine what to build. This is a collaborative environment where you will work closely with product management to define the work, and play a key role in developing, enhancing and maintaining the next generation of interactive Web-based social media.
In addition to innovating on our product offerings, we’re also looking for ways of innovating on the way we build our applications. The core of our platform is in Java, but we are investigating dynamic languages as part of a more agile approach to building web experiences. Therefore, preference is given to those with experience with Ruby on Rails who can provide a robust domain expertise that the rest of the team can leverage.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• 4+ years of professional Web development experience in building large scale distributed applications.
• Strong Java development experience as well as familiarity with dynamic languages such as Ruby on Rails or Python.
• Experience with SQL, Database design, MySQL, JDBC
• Expertise in AJAX, DHTML, XHTML, CSS 2.0, JavaScript, JSON, REST, XML, and XSLT
• Experience building and operating highly efficient, dynamic, data driven, scalable browser based user interfaces and web applications
• Experience in short software lifecycles, software configuration management and change control
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent teamwork, analytical and problem solving skills
• Fast learner - can quickly come up to speed with different technologies and develop prototypes as needed
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Development experience on Linux, Windows & Mac platforms
• BS in Computer Science or comparable experience
• Experience with agile development
• Prototype or Yahoo UI.
• Spring or other MVC framework and experience with Dependency Injection paradigm
• Familiarity with newer Java features including generics, enums, annotations and assertions
• Familiarity with JUnit and some knowledge of Unit Testing and/or Test-Driven Development
