Summary:
Boston-based Backchannelmedia Inc., a provider of advanced software solutions for the TV advertising industry, was founded in 2000 as the pre-eminent provider of information and technologies that transform existing media marketing and advertising business models from those which are managed by sampling and estimation to those which are completely accountable.
As our Software Engineer you will be comfortable working closely with management throughout the software development process to design and develop the backend of systems with multiple web interfaces. You are comfortable working in a team environment where software projects are completed in collaborative effort.
Job Duties/
Responsibilities:
• Applies architectural standards defined by management for Backchannelmedia’s systems.
• Satisfies business requirements by using multiple tools to develop solutions.
• Takes input from management to lead application development efforts for specific modules or projects.
• Performs maintenance programming for existing software versions as well as custom programming as required.
• Understands software development process and identifies problems and applies support and resolution.
Qualifications:
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interpret technical concepts to other technical and non-technical staff members.
• Competent user of open source software such as Apache, Subversion, Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL.
• Solid knowledge of *NIX. Knowledge of web programming using either Ruby, PHP, Perl or other languages.
• Solid knowledge of SQL such as joins, aggregates, stored procedures, and data normalization.
• Keen understanding of JavaScript event model, as well as browser compatibility issues.
Education:
• BS/BA in Computer Science or related field.
• 4 years Software Engineering/Development experience preferred.
