Job Description
To serve millions of unique users every week, we have several dozen servers and manage over 100 terabytes of raw storage. We’re growing rapidly and you’ll be on the front lines as we expand to multiple datacenters, hundreds of servers, dozens of developers and more. You’ll be our “backend guru,” tasked with designing and executing projects to optimize, refactor, and add new capabilities to our backend PHP/MySQL architecture.
Extensive experience with PHP, web development frameworks and web site architecture is an absolute must, along with a vigilant thirst to learn new technologies, methods and techniques.
Sample projects for this position:
Refactor a portion of the codebase towards a design pattern or a more proper MVC architecture.
Implement a more advanced, robust upload method.
Benchmark some of our most common requests and find and solve bottlenecks.
Analyze our MySQL queries and schema to ensure they are optimized.
Test out new servers and technologies; play with some of the latest and greatest tech, like 8- and 16-core servers.
Qualifications:
Extensive engineering and operations experience with the LAMP stack (with P for PHP).
Solid understanding of OO software design principles and the MVC architecture.
A passion for finding elegant solutions to complex problems.
Benefits:
Fun and challenging startup environment with free lunches, drinks, snacks and office parties.
Health and dental provided, 90% employer contribution.
Stock options package.
