Going is a fast growing venture backed startup providing the only site focused on making the city more fun for 18-35 year olds online as well as offline. We’re a fun, smart group looking to expand our core engineering team. We are headquartered in the heart of Boston, next to shopping, restaurants, bars, and public transportation, with easy access to Cambridge, Back Bay, Chinatown, Fenway and beyond.
Scope and Responsibilities:
* Develop new site functionality according to spec
* Work collaboratively with product and design team to ensure we create an exciting product
* Create well-architected, maintainable code
* Take ownership of your core functional area
* Design database tables to support the front end
* Optimize poorly performing parts of the application
* Fix bugs and support QA activities
Requirements:
* BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent degree
* 2+ years of experience in developing database driven web applications preferred
* Strong software engineering skills; know when to hack and when to refactor
* Ability to quickly implement a functional spec to deployable code
* Experience with PHP, MySQL, CSS, AJAX
* Working knowledge of Linux, development tools (vim/emacs, grep, sed, etc.)
* Proven ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing requirements
Plusses:
* Knowledge of various web services/APIs
* Experience building scalable web applications
* Experience with Linux system administration
