Alelo Inc. produces immersive simulations of real-life social communication based on interactive 3D video games involving spoken dialogs and cultural protocols with "socially intelligent virtual humans". (Alelo means "language" in Hawaiian.) Our initial applications teach how to communicate in foreign languages and cultures, and are rapidly growing in several training, entertainment, advertising and healthcare markets.
Our products incorporate unique combinations of leading-edge innovations in a broad range of fields, including interactive multimedia instruction, intelligent tutoring systems, artificial intelligence, speech recognition, human-computer interaction, web-services applications, and video games.
We seek several Software Engineers to join or rapidly growing team of talented, passionate professionals. You are right for the job if you are a real coder with good design skills and the ability to work with and integrate a number of different technologies. Flexibility and curiosity to learn new technologies is very important.
We are looking for programmers with skills and experience in one of two major areas:
***Web applications. Our web applications use web services with a Java back-end (JEE5), and a mix of Flex 3 and Java Swing on the front end.
***Simulation and game programming. We develop virtual humans that operate on simulated worlds using 3D game engines. We use a lot of Python and C++. We currently use Unreal 2.5 as our engine, but we are starting to work on other engines as well. Experience with massive multi-player online games (MMOGs) would be particularly useful.
Experience with any the following technologies is a plus: speech recognition, AI, agents, education software, natural language processing, intelligent tutoring systems.
We are looking people with a range of experiences, but 5-10 years of professional experience would be ideal (course projects do not count). We also welcome interns.
We prefer candidates local to Southern California. We cannot provide immigration sponsorship (H1B and similar).
