Software Engineer – RAD
London, part-time 17.5 hours per week
Part of BBC Research & Innovation, Future Media & Technology, BBC RAD develops innovative products and prototypes. P2P-Next is an EU-funded project examining the future of AV material via peer-to-peer networks. Join us now and you could lead the broadcast and software engineering tasks needed for cross-platform work involving Windows, Mac, GNU/Linux, Python and Set-top box.
You’ll apply your software development skills to ensuring successful prototyping, development as well as the test and launch of our project. From application development to helping train new team members, you’ll work with colleagues across the BBC to define P2P-Next features. Timely delivery will be critical and you’ll provide technical advice to editorial and design teams on new application concepts.
Alongside knowledge of software design, development and maintenance, you’ll have experience in C, C++, PERL, XML, HTML, JavaScript, Java, Python, CGI and Linux. Experience in XP, Scrum and other agile development processes would be advantageous and so would experience in free/open source projects. You’ll also need experience of television and multimedia combined with knowledge of SCM and a commitment to developing your skills and knowledge.
