Software Development Programmer – Mobile at ESRI (Redlands, CA 92373)

Use your solid core programming skills and passion for programming to build new, exciting software products for Nokia handheld devices. In this position you will be a key member of our development team and contribute towards designing and developing the next generation of ESRI technology.

As part of the software engineering team at ESRI, you will help build cutting-edge software in areas including 2D and 3D visualization and spatial analysis, robust server-based GIS development using the latest platforms, and industry standard enterprise architectures such as SOA. Working in a creative and challenging team setting, your contributions will have a real impact on the next generation of our innovative geospatial analysis, modeling, and visualization technology.

Responsibilities:
Build software components that follow industry-standard design patterns, development methodologies, and deployment models.
Design and develop the next generation of ArcGIS mobile products.
Assist in bringing excellent software to the mobile environment such as field mapping, data collection, sensor networks, and street navigation.
Collaborate with other programmers and developers throughout the development process.

Requirements:
Bachelors or masters in computer science, engineering, mathematics, GIS, or related field, depending upon position level.
Strong Symbian OS background.
Programming expertise in Symbian, C++, and/or Java.
Ability to work closely with software developers, product engineers, and documentation writers to build quality software in a constantly challenging environment.
Effective time management and organization skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Recommended Qualifications:
Knowledge of GIS/ESRI software.
Experience with data compression.
Background developing with GPS devices and/or navigation systems.
