IMDb.com (the Internet Movie Database), the world’s most popular movie website, is expanding our advertising team. Online advertising constitutes the majority of our revenue and is the lifeblood of IMDb; the systems you develop will be at its heart. You’ll be responsible for building everything from back-end systems that help our sales team land contracts, to improving our ad-serving and tracking infrastructure to developing new types of ad placements for the website. We’re looking for an experienced software developer whose passion is building robust, scalable and maintainable systems.
We have a great work environment and a strongly cohesive group of talented people. Our developers enjoy a lot of creative control over projects and work on challenging and interesting problems. A love of movies is suggested, but not required; be prepared to be surrounded by debates about the best Hitchcock film ever made and discussions about what might happen when Battlestar Galactica returns.
IMDb.com is a subsidiary of Amazon.com. As such you’ll enjoy the benefits of working in a Fortune 500 company and the environment of a small company, it’s the best of both worlds. Our software is built on a LAMP (P=Perl) stack, and we use the best of open source, and Amazon’s technologies and infrastructure. We are a telecommute-friendly workplace, but require employees to be located in Seattle.
