SUMMARY
Contributes to current company product line of OLAP Business Development Tools, interactive reporting tools, and new product lines, as part of MITS’s Software Engineering team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Analyzes, designs, develops, creates, and modifies software for commercial and/or end-user applications.
• Contributes to code used in production on multiple aspects of an application.
• Is actively involved in design reviews and has large influence in the final designs selected for production code.
• Implements high level designs in production code with little oversight required.
• Performs new product research and development.
• Effectively applies development best practices.
• Mentors junior members.
• Works closely with QA to ensure software robustness and accuracy.
• Is sought out by team members as a technical expert in multiple areas.
• Adhere to company confidentiality policy.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required:
• Several years’ experience contributing to production code on one or more shipping products
• Several years’ experience learning about and implementing design best practices
• Java (5+ years) programming language
• Relational databases (4+ years)
• MVC design pattern to create Web applications (3+ years)
• Hibernate object/relational mapping tool
• Development of Web sites backed by relational databases
• Knowledge of best practices for designing components in production systems
• 4+ years contributing production code to one or more production products
• J2EE application server or a servlet runner
• Spring framework and Spring’s Web MVC framework
• Track record of successful implementations
Preferred:
• Experience with BASIC (1+ years) programming language
• Apache Derby relational database
• Proficiency with reporting tools
• Inversion of Control (IoC) and dependency injection modeling
• Apache Tomcat
• JBoss application server
• Eclipse IDE or IntelliJ IDE
• Agile/Extreme Programming (XP) experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field

• Ability to plan, schedule, execute, and complete work in a self-directed mode from inception through to production.
