Introduction to Role
The heart of the company, software developers make up more than half of the team at MX Telecom. Since all our products are designed and built in-house, there is an immense amount of variety in the role and no two developers have had the same experience yet. With constant exposure to new technologies and a seemingly never-ending stream of new projects, this role is for those who thrive on the challenges of learning on the job and working in a flexible, dynamic environment.
Description of Role
The candidate will be working on the development of our core products and services across a variety of technologies and business areas including: SMS, MMS, Location Based Services, IVR/Telephony, Interactive TV and Value Added Services.
As a member of the tightly integrated technical team, work involves design, development, support and maintenance of existing and new projects both internally (on our core systems), and in a client-facing capacity (under our Application Development offering).
Responsibilities include:
Design and specification of systems
Technical implementation and testing of solutions
Problem solving and troubleshooting
Customisation of systems
Experience and Skills Required
The candidate should be comfortable with working in a small, dynamic, busy company. They should be able to help set their own objectives within a rapidly changing framework and be persistent in pursuing them.
A solid understanding of software design and development methodologies, and the ability to work in teams or unsupervised on projects of varying scope is essential.
Use of Java (including Servlets, RMI, Hibernate and Spring), HTML and SQL highly desirable. Experience with Linux, networking and distributed systems an advantage. Above all, the ability and desire to learn new skills and technologies through hands-on involvement in live projects.
You will need to be an enthusiastic Computer Science or Engineering Graduate from a top class university with A-Levels all at grade A or B, and preferably some commercial experience.
