Software Architect at Rustici Software (Franklin, TN 37067)

If you are the right person, you want to work here. Put simply, this is a better software job.

How do you know if you really want to work here?

You want a place where your presence matters a lot. There are eight of us today…teams are tiny, and your work dramatically impacts the company.

Development talent is king (although we also have a king of the ping-pong table). Seven of the eight of us are developers by background, including both owners. That means that if a developer needs something, he or she gets it.

We trust everyone who works here. If you need a day off, you take a day off. If you tell us that a project can’t be done in the time allowed, then that’s the case. We hand out large projects with a 10-minute meeting and the freedom to build it well.

Our developers get to solve problems. This includes enhancing our solutions with new technologies and approaches, and demystifying complex topics for our customers.

Life matters, and a lot of life happens outside of the office. We don’t count vacation days. Come and go as you please. Work somewhere else today if it helps you. Nobody here works more than 40 hours per week. Seriously. It is entirely different from the other places you’ve worked.

How do we know if you’re the right person?

You have to be interested in THIS job, not A job. Demonstrate that to us in your email, your resume, etc. Absolutely check us out at www.scorm.com. Demonstrate that you understand some aspect of what we do.

You are talented. Given the freedoms we offer above, we have to have great people…and we mean great.

You have depth of programming talent…we don’t care what language. Java, .NET, these are tools we use, but they are just tools to us. A big piece of the work we do is piecing together our clients’ applications with ours. This requires both detailed line-by-line programming skill and higher level architectural skill.

Complete the test you find here (http://www.scorm.com/employment/EmployeeTest.zip) as part of your application. Look at the comments of the HTML file for directions on how to proceed. It’s a simple javascript problem, but the quality of your response is telling. If you’re great, show it.

Thanks for checking us out. I have no doubt that the next person we hire will love working here. This is a better software job.
