Shopify is looking for a passionate sys admin with experience managing open-source server-farms and Rails applications.
Our setup includes: MySQL, Nginx, haproxy, mysqlproxy, memcached, debian, and OpenBSD firewalls.
Shopify runs on 10-machine cluster (IBM, opterons). You must be comfortable setting up new servers, xen virtualization, spotting bottlenecks, server monitoring, etc. We need you to keep us clear of system issues, performance crunches, & daily hiccups.
Ruby programming experience and/or experience with PCI-DSS compliance are a big plus.
Our offices are in Ottawa, Canada and our servers in Toronto. You are welcome to join us here but working remotely is OK as well. Some tasks will involve traveling to Toronto so proximity is a plus.
