The Role
We are recruiting Ruby on Rails web developers at all levels and are looking both for people who aspire to a technical/guru career, and for those who are looking to eventually move into technical project management.
Setfire is currently transitioning from a Perl-based environment to the Ruby on Rails framework. Our current focus is the migration of current clients to Rails, and you can be a big part of this change. This is your chance to make a big difference at a crucial and challenging stage in our growth.
These Ruby on Rails web development jobs are based in Heaton Mersey, near Stockport, just south of Manchester.
Here’s some stuff you need
- Experience and passion about open source technologies; Ruby on Rails, Linux, all that jazz
- First-name terms with best programming practices – OO, version control etc
- Great team-working ability; expect to work with both technical experts and other e-commerce specialists
- Excellent debugging skills
- A commitment to getting better at what you do (and we’ll provide any help we can)
- Fluent English
The following would be useful, too
- Perl or PHP experience
- Experience of e-commerce development
- Knowledge of W3C standards and a understanding of the premise of semantic markup
- Linux sysadmin skills
- Excellent SQL skills and/or MySQL/PostgreSQL administration skills
