TED.com is an award-winning website featuring inspired talks from the world’s leading thinkers and doers. We currently have several million monthly users, and our talks have been watched more than 80 million times worldwide. We’re rapidly evolving the site, and are looking for a Senior Web Developer to join our small, collaborative team. You should have:
- 5+ years web development experience.
- Expertise in object-oriented PHP and MySQL. Special consideration given to candidates with experience using the symfony framework.
- Expertise in utilizing HTML, Javascript, CSS, and AJAX to create rich, responsive, and intuitive interfaces.
- Experience in creating applications utilizing Flex/Flash/ActionScript 3 is a plus.
- Ability to work with end-users to solicit requirements and manage projects.
- Familiarity with source code control systems like Subversion.
The ideal candidate also has experience working with either online video, content-management systems or social media, plus a genuine excitement about enabling intelligent leading-edge content. Strong organization skills are assumed. Great communication skills very useful. A broad interest in the world — including science/technology, design/architecture, global development, entertainment/arts — is a big plus.
This is a full-time position with a competitive benefit package. We’ll consider candidates who are New York-based (and would work out of TED’s downtown New York office), as well as those who would work remotely. The role reports into our Lead Web Developer. We’d like you to start yesterday.
