Purpose of Role

The Senior Web Developer works with the Technical team to manage, develop and maintain client side components of development projects and define and implement innovative web based solutions and development strategies. They co-ordinate and supervise upgrades for enterprise environments and deployed systems.
A Senior Web Developer focuses upon the business layer upwards but should have basic Object Orientated Programmer skills and be able to program to Junior Software Engineer level when required.
A Senior Web Developer focuses upon delivering web pages , converting creative PSDs and IA wireframes into production ready user interfaces whilst integrating into the specified IDE (.NET, JAVA or other).
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required
• Understanding of the project life cycle process to effectively be able to manage a sub-team through the complexities of the business solution
• Proven extensive experience working as web developer with client exposure
• Proven experience of designing, building and maintaining secure web applications
• Proficient within at least 4 of the following:
o XSL, XSLT, XML, Semantic (X)HTML, JavaScript, DHTML
o Some exposure to AJAX coding and coding against a JavaScript library (e.g. Prototype, Dojo, jQuery, MooTools, etc)
o Proficient at least one Web Server Environment: e.g Apache, IIS etc
• Experience of using Adobe Photoshop to manipulate creative to extract necessary assets for a page being built.
• Some background in object oriented language programming either .NET or Java.
• Either certified or working towards a certification: (MCAD,MCSD JCD)
• The role is not considered to have any crossover with Creative Development, i.e. no Flash development skills are required beyond the ability to include a movie onto a page.
