The Senior User Experience Consultant will lead clients through the design process to understand their user and business needs, and ultimately design web sites and web applications which address those needs. This role would work within the User Experience team and be primarily responsible for information organization, interactive design, and creating visual designs. The individual would work with team members to create and design site functionality, structure, navigation, data flow and user interfaces, using our structured methodology for site and application design. They will combine the information architecture, branding guidelines, and creative strategy to create a comprehensive visual design and user experience.
Specific User Experience Activities
• Work closely with clients and team members to create and design site structure, site navigation, and user interfaces using a structured methodology for information design
• Create visual prototypes that apply the branding and creative strategies to the proposed information architecture
• Design graphical elements for websites, web applications, presentations, and print collateral
• Create logical site schematics used to determine the visual and functional layout of a web site or web application
• Create user profiles and logical flows of information used to precisely detail a user’s experience through an application
• May be required to build out functional site prototypes and the front-end of web applications
Internal Responsibilities
• Create and maintain templates for Creative and Information Architecture deliverables
• Contribute to Bit Group’s process methodology
• Create designs for internal web and print projects
• Conduct research or work on internal projects as needed
Technical Skills & Qualifications Required
• 7-10 years creative experience
• An understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory
• Ability to profile user patterns and create personas for site usage
• Strong human factors and usability analysis skills
• Formalized client requirements gathering experience
• A portfolio of existing websites and printed collateral
• Expert in the use of Adobe Photoshop
• Expert in the use of Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent writing and research skills
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, and InDesign or Quark Xpress
• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree, preferably in a related discipline
• Experience building web front-ends using XHTML, CSS, JavaScript is a plus
• Experience with Visio, Macromedia Flash and action scripting is a plus
