Senior Software Engineer – RAD
London

Part of BBC Research & Innovation, Future Media & Technology, BBC RAD develops innovative products and prototypes. P2P-Next is an EU-funded project exploring the future of AV material in social networks. Join us now and you could lead the broadcast and software engineering tasks needed for a cross-platform work involving Windows, Mac, GNU/Linux, Python and Set-top box.

As the technical liaison with partners on the project, you’ll work with others to define the overall roadmap and deliverables for the project. You’ll use your software development skills to ensure successful prototyping, development, test and launch of the P2P-Next EU project. Training new team members and working with colleagues across the BBC will help extend and define P2P-Next features.

In addition to substantial knowledge of software design, development and maintenance, you’ll be comfortable in C, C++, PERL, XML, HTML, JavaScript, Java, Python, CGI and Linux environments. Ideally, you’ll also know XP, Scrum and other agile development processes as well as have a good understanding of SCM e.g. SVN, CVA and Git. Experience in television, multimedia and creative environments would also be an advantage.
