We are currently seeking a Senior Software Developer for a fast growing instructional technology company with a strong mission and brand. He or she will provide their technical expertise and mentorship to integrate closely with a team of software developers building cutting edge immersion language learning software. They will work closely with Senior Project Manager to guide the design, development, and implementation of complex media presentation software. They will be an energizing, positive, mentoring, example in a closely functioning, rapidly developing team helping to ensure quality deliverables are achieved.
Responsibilities
• Work with a cross-functional team in a Scrum/Agile software development environment
• Deliver high-quality software on a frequent basis
• Interact with project stakeholders to develop and refine requirements
• Collaborate with other software professionals to design and implement software applications
• Reverse engineer and refactor existing code for performance, scalability, and maintainability
• Act as team mentor in advanced techniques and positive team behavior
• Solid ability to inspire team productivity in a positive and supportive manner

Requirements
• BS in CS, Information Technology or other scientific/linguistic fields or equivalent development experience
• 5+ years experience developing software in an object-oriented language like C++, Java, ActionScript 3, or Ruby
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and application domains
• Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Ability to develop simple, elegant solutions to complex problems
• Enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic environment with talented professionals
• Ability to quickly adapt to a rapidly growing software organization
• Excellent technical communication skills
• Creative, positive outlook in facing hard problems and short time frames

Preferred Skills and/or Education
• MS degree preferred
• Experience with Scrum or other Agile software development methodology
• Experience with multiple OO languages like C++, Java, ActionScript 3, or Ruby
• Experience with database interactions and the ability to write database queries in SQL
• Experience with foreign languages
• Experience with Design Patterns
• Experience with team building and supportive mentoring
