Do you have exceptional talent developing scientific algorithms? Is math your strong suit? Have you wanted to develop from a clean slate where you get to set the ground rules?
Then Zemetrics, Inc. could be just what you have been waiting for.
Zemetrics is a highly promising start-up company based in Tucson, Arizona, the “optics valley” of the optics industry. We are staffed by some of the top people in our industry with proven entrepreneurial success in growing optics companies from the ground up. We are creating a new generation of optics based metrology instruments to be used in a wide variety of disciplines. Our software will be cutting edge and highly innovative, controlling precision instruments and analyzing measurement data to meet the real-world needs of manufacturing facilities and research scientists world-wide.
Our scientific algorithms include “core” acquisition routines that must discern and make sense of the weakest signals masked by noise. We also have application specific algorithms used to process and analyze the raw measurement data. Unlike companies working in niche fields, our instruments are used by a wide variety of diverse customers meaning each brings its own needs, requirements and unique challenges to the table, affording us the opportunity to work on problems and provide solutions in many different areas.
We are developing our software in C# and C++ and so we expect you to be proficient in these or similar languages. You also must have a strong Engineering, Physics or Optics background backed up by a rigorous mathematical aptitude and possess the ability to translate theoretical algorithms into product-oriented solutions – vigorously robust, highly repeatable and optimized for extreme speed. Proven experience with scientific algorithm development, image processing, signal processing, digital filtering and Fourier theory, and manipulation of large data sets expected. Experience with Metrology, Interferometry, Matlab, GPU or physics processors, Visual Studio .NET, interfacing hardware (digital cameras, DAC boards, etc.) are all a plus to us.
Join us in the Old Pueblo of the Southwest, home of the University of Arizona and the renowned Optical Sciences Center. While we are a start-up company, we have many years experience in our field and we are setting our sights to do the things we have long dreamed of but never had the opportunity to tackle. Finally we have that opportunity and we are looking for just the right person who wants to grow and dream with us.
Plus, being a small team that is just getting started, whoever joins us will get to participate in setting many of the standards that will allow us to meet the Joel Test on quality software teams, and so much more.
But please, only candidates with rigorous mathematical proficiency need apply.
