The innovation group at Strands [1] is looking for a senior engineer to lead the development team working on an Internet and enterprise application. We are looking for someone who is technically gifted, has a deep end-to-end working knowledge of the Internet at layers 3 through to 7. Someone who is passionate about the web, understands, and keeps up to date, about not only the technologies of the web but also its culture. And someone who can manage and lead other multidisciplinary engineers.
Your task would be to use your depth of technical expertise, distributed project management skills, passion and knowledge of the frontiers of the web to define directions and coordinate the prototyping and development efforts of a growing multidisciplinary team of engineers. The position carries many responsibilities including scalable architecture design, infrastructure deployment and planning. We are a startup which means you can have input into all layers of the stack from architecture/infrastructures to algorithms and UI. In return you will have a large ownership of the project, have the opportunity to define critical architectural choices and be part of a game changing team. Strength in computer science, application development and project management skills will be required. UI and RIA experience would be highly advantageous. The ideal candidate would have Flash and Flex experience.
The innovation group at NYC is headed by a previous research scientist from CS at MIT. Team members are composed of CS grads and the office is located in heart of NYC (TriBeCa).
Responsibilities:
* Experience in End-to-End prototyping and production level code from scratch
* Experience in architecting scalable web applications and patterns
* Strong OOP (Java, C++) and component development skills
* Strong knowledge of DBs
* Experience with rapid development and project management methodologies and platforms
Requirements:
* BS in Computer Science
* Previous startup experience as Dev Lead, Sr. Developer, or comparable.
* 2+ years relevant web programming experience.
* Strong technical interest in latest Web 2.0 innovations
* Flash and Flex skills (with knowledge of BlazeDS)
* Knowledge of Web User Interface design & development.
* US Citizenship or permanent resident
