Mozilla is looking for a Senior Interaction Designer to help drive the future success of one of the most popular consumer products on the Web. As a Senior Interaction Designer at Mozilla, you will be working with a dynamic product team committed to enabling new and innovative web experiences for users worldwide. Firefox on the desktop is only the beginning. You’ll shape initiatives out of Mozilla Labs like Weave and Personas, and drive the ground-up design of our mobile ‘Fennic’ browser that will push Mozilla’s user base well over 200 million.
The ideal candidate has the skills to design and implement user interfaces across Mozilla’s product and service lines. The position requires someone who will prioritize user interface issues in order to hit aggressive product delivery targets involved with shipping software.
Tasks and responsibilities will include supporting the design of in-progress work, conceptualizing and proposing new user interface designs, and creating design prototypes and mockups for these proposals.
Requirements and Qualifications:
* BA/BS with specialization in one or more of interaction design, user interface design, software development, human computer interaction, or graphic design
* 5+ yrs experience designing user interfaces for user-facing applications, and having worked on at least two (2) such applications that have shipped
* 5+ yrs experience creating mockups or prototypes
* 5+ yrs experience with user interface development tools and techniques
* Extensive experience with HCI methodologies such as card sorting, lab-based user feedback testing, persona development, cognitive task analysis, etc.
* Significant experience and knowledge of web and web application development would be an asset
* Outstanding initiative and coordination skills including the ability to effectively partner across functional and remote teams
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
* Strong character, ethics, and a high standard of performance
* Experience with open source software a plus
