*Position Overview*
This position reports to the Director of User Experience. The Senior Front End Web Developer will establish the front end technology standards for future product releases, and will help hire and mentor junior-level front end developers/prototypers.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong curiosity and a borderline obsession for state of the art web design technologies.
The ideal candidate is very comfortable with hands-on development and has an eye for good, user-centric design of rich internet applications.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is comfortable taking ownership and will set a high standard for junior-level front end developers/prototypers.
The ideal candidate is an excellent verbal communicator who enjoys working collaboratively with developers and designers, serving as a respected bridge between the two to ensure designs are practical and efficient to implement.
The ideal candidate is an excellent written communicator, who can produce Functional Design Documentation, and review and provide written input to Technical Design Documents created by development team.
*Qualifications*
•3+ years of front end web development experience
•High level of proficiency with CSS, XHTML, DHTML, XSLT
•High level of proficiency with C# and JavaScript as client-side scripting languages that can be used for implementing an AJAX application
•Knowledge of web standards and cross-browser compatibility
•Knowledge of .NET framework
•Knowledge of DOM and DOM functions
•Strong portfolio of work (please be ready to share screens/code examples)
•Exposure to user-centric design processes and UE design roles
•Must be able to work on-site
*Responsibilities*
•Produce quality, testable, maintainable, front end code that meets the development team’s coding standards.
•Help hire and mentor junior-level front end developers/prototypers
•Help define scope and identify RIA design opportunities and limitations
•Ensure team members plan for front end technology obstacles
•Co-author (with Interaction Designer) and own Functional Design Documents
•Review and provide input to Technical Design Documents created by development team
•Create disposable low-fidelity prototypes for targeted usability testing
•Create high-fidelity prototypes/templates to help developers create/reuse/ integrate your code into the final production code
•Stay abreast of emerging technologies and ensure that their impacts are fully considered in the company’s business strategies, in conjunction with user research (i.e. desktop operating systems, browsers, mobile operating systems/hardware, etc)
