Groundspeak’s Wherigo Platform was recently announced at CES on the Garmin Colorado. We’re looking for skilled and creative developers to work on our location-based gaming engine. More information about the platform can be found at Wherigo.com.
Groundspeak has a requirement for a C/C++ games engine developer. This programmer will be responsible for the gaming platform that integrates with GPS providing the needed logic to various front-ends of multiple platforms. The programmer will provide sound architectural solutions concerning third-party access to the engine, data storage and retrieval and event modeling. The programmer will be responsible for guidance and coding in porting the engine to multiple platforms.
Responsibilities
* Planning, architecting and coding of Game Engine platform
* Porting code between platforms
* Work with other team members to integrate engine code
* Provide time estimates of tasks
Required Skills
* BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
* 3+ years of software development experience, focusing on the Microsoft platform and technologies using C/C++
* Game Industry Experience
* Success at completing development projects with responsibilities in all phases of development
* Proven track record successfully using object-oriented design and development methodologies to deliver high quality, efficient and in-production systems.
* Extensive C/C++ coding experience
* Multiple mobile platform development experience including Pocket PC’s, Mobile Phones
* Data storage and retrieval coding and design
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical staff
* Games engine architect experience
Preferred Skills
* GPS use and programming experience
* C# and Microsoft .NET platform development
* Exposure to Java and Brew
* Game UI design
* Exposure to the Lua engine
* Porting code between platforms
* Passion for Video Games
