We seek an experienced, flexible, and talented individual to bring expertise and enthusiasm to all aspects of the software life cycle. Whether you call it agile or lean, we need a streamlined and adaptive approach to creating and maintaining software that is key to our data collection and management processes. We are a small team, and the ability to wear a sysadmin hat when necessary is required. A willingness to write some utilities and glue programs for third-party packages is a big help.
Necessary Skills: software development, .Net, SVN, unit and acceptance testing, porting legacy C code from UNIX to Windows. Background in data collection, scientific data a plus. Some physics and math skills are essential.
Minimum Requirements:
• A B.Sc. or higher degree in computer science, math, engineering or other hard science.
• Five years combined experience in software development and IT, preferably for scientific applications.
• Experience with writing software to collect scientific measurement data.
• Current authorization to work in the US, or be a current Fugro employee.
• Physical and emotional ability to work in close confines on a marine vessel for up to four months a year.
• Experience with GIS, cartography and/or sonar is preferred.
