JOB TITLE: Systems Support Specialist

REPORTS TO: Senior Systems Specialist, Studio Manager, Director of Operations and Department Chair

POSITION OVERVIEW: Set up, configure, maintain and provide technical support for Macintosh environment labs and administrative computers. Installation, configuration, and maintenance of OSX server and FileMaker server. Provide desktop support for students, faculty and administration. Develop innovative ways of working with technology in labs, educational and administrative environments.

Work Schedule: Sunday – Thursday, 2pm – 10pm (Full-Time)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installation, configuration and maintenance of OSX server and FileMaker server
  • Installation and maintenance of all software, hardware, and peripherals
  • Computer hardware and software support for labs and administrative staff
  • Continually responsive to students in respect to desktop, software, hardware and peripheral technical support
  • Advanced hardware and software troubleshooting
  • Provide and maintain a color management system for student and faculty use
  • Maintain network
  • Coordinates with Senior Systems Specialist to analyze and evaluate lab usage
  • Develop and maintain computer lab help website and office knowledge based materials
  • Modify and enforce policies and procedures for computer lab facilities
  • Support department chair and chair’s assistant with special projects
  • Research and implement innovative ways for technological teaching
  • Conduct supplemental workshops for students on basic lab usage
  • Enforce policies and procedures for computer lab facilities
  • Train part-time systems specialist and Lab Aides

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional training
  • 2-3 years experience preferred
  • Expert knowledge of Macintosh operating system
  • Knowledge of Macintosh server structure required
  • Employee should have working knowledge of all Adobe and Apple products
  • Knowledge of FileMaker Pro preferred
  • Excellent communication, time-management, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Working knowledge of Unix
  • Strong knowledge of computer and peripheral maintenance
  • Knowledge in trouble shooting
  • Experience with traditional and digital photography is helpful, but not required

Salary $40k/year
