This position will be based in London, UK, with an opportunity (if wanted) to move temporarily or permanently to a San Francisco office during 2009.

Salary: Depending on experience.

As Web and Graphic designer at Rummble, you will be responsible the user interface design of Rummbles mobile and web applications. If you’re interested in shaping the experience of social software users worldwide, this is the position for you. Rummble believes that if you focus on the user, all else good will follow. We’re passionate about user behaviour and emotions. We want to use those things to help define the Rummbles experience we create.

We are looking for a visual designer with solid skills in graphic design and an excellent eye for typography, clean layout and Web/CSS skills. You must have a deep appreciation for simple, sleek, usable interfaces. You must understand web and social software environments.

You must have the ability to successfully collaborate with the rest of the team to develop innovative, user-friendly, best-of-breed products that adhere to, and help, build the Rummble brand. You should be comfortable working with wire-framing, excellent visual design skills. You should use the standard visual design software tools like a pro and have some existing work to demonstrate that. You will report directly to the Founder/CEO but work closely with all the Rummblers to deliver stunning and engaging products and services.

Comprehensive knowledge of CSS/HTML/XHTML (other things like Flash a bonus). You must excel in enough areas to compensate for (e.g. lack of Flash skills) and balance the team.

The key success criteria will be delivering a better user experience, better design increased usage of the Rummble service by users, gaining recognition from peers and industry, implementing a design style and creative which gets emulated and copied- because its so good!

We’ve got an open plan office, with Wii, football table, free coffee, beer in the fridge and are 5 minutes walk from London Bridge station. Responsibilities

Working closely with Product Management and Engineering to produce both high-level flows and mobile/web UI mockups.
Thinking of creative solutions to complex problems and proactively proposing improvements to the existing product.
Be highly organized and ability to balance multiple simultaneous projects in a rapidly expanding environment.
Produce digital and offline creative’s and interactive media for Rummble Ltd in accordance with agreed goals.
Take responsibility for the website/mobile creative, produce or manage other materials that may be required to promote Rummble.
Extreme attention to detail and consistency of work.
Be a brand evangelist and promote the Rummble cause and ethos both internally and at public events
Ensure online and offline communications are consistent with the culture and brand ethics of Rummble
Maintain the corporate visual branding guide in conjunction with other relevant people

Preferred qualifications:

Solid understanding of working with (and designing for) web applications and potentially mobile.

Real world skills and work ethic more important than formal qualifications.

Requirements:

Must be able to work and communicate effectively in a cross-functional product development team, and present ideas and designs effectively.
Must be self-motivated to prioritize and manage work load, and meet critical project milestones and deadlines.
Must be an effective problem solver. Comes up with creative solutions and considers many alternative solutions to each problem.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build good working relationships.
Produce standards compliant cross-browser CSS and full knowledge of their capabilities and limitations
Use Photoshop and/or Fireworks like a pro.
Ability to brainstorm well with other designers and give and take constructive feedback.
Academic background in human-computer interaction, interaction design, or related field. Strong technical background a major plus.
Presentable and outgoing
Motivated, enthusiastic and able to work with a good level of independence and autonomy
Understanding of good usability, Web 2.0 techniques and technologies, branding and digital marketing, Mobile 2.0
Proficient and confident in English, additional languages an advantage
Understanding of the web & mobile ecosystem would be a major benefit.
Knowledge of other areas of media and hands on skills beneficial: e.g. video editing, audio editing, Flash animation, Flashlite, etc.
BA/BS or above in Graphic Design, Information Design, or other visual arts and/or strong technical background a plus but not a requirement.
