* Be an expert in Microsoft database technologies
* Own the data tier for multiple applications
* Be hands-on doing database design and development work across multiple applications
* Work directly with the management staff, developers and testers, production DBA and report developers
* Decide and justify both strategic and tactical data model and database decisions, and implement those decisions in a timely manner

A Development DBA is:
The Development DBA’s role is to strategically design and implement databases across the organization, while ensuring high levels of data availability. This individual is also responsible for defining standards and models for database architectures. The Database Developer will in addition evaluate and assist in the selection of all technology components, such as software, hardware, and networking capabilities, for database management systems and applications.
We will be looking for someone who has:
* Excellent communication skills

* Ability and experience working in a “Microsoft shop” with Microsoft technologies
* Database development and design
- Table/Schema design for performance, size, and relationships, etc.
- Understanding of data warehousing, OLAP, and OLTP DBs
- DB Security modeling/risks/etc.
- DB programming objects (stored procedure, trigger, constraints) design/development
- Index/tuning/troubleshooting (on the dev side)
- T-SQL
* Fundamental understanding of database theory and technologies
- Both at physical and logical levels
- Including technical concepts like when page spits occur, how DBs cache queries, etc
- Understanding of data warehousing
* DTS/SSIS experience
* Knowledge and experience with ETL
* SQL Server 2000/2005 and knowledge of 2008 including Reporting Services, Profiler, Query Analyzer, etc.
* Be on the leading edge with respect to knowledge of new DB products and practices in the industry
* At least 5 years of experience doing DB development and design
* Microsoft (or other) certifications a plus (e.g. MCITP)
* A 4+ year university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or computer engineering, etc.
* Be able to prove all of the above
