Rearden is looking for a Senior Interaction Designer who has a passion for designing easy-to-use, consumer-friendly web interfaces for our award-winning web service. It is critical for candidates to work well with other teams and to have a strong leadership presence. Candidates must be able to understand the balance of user experience, business case, and time-to-market, and make tradeoffs where appropriate.
This position is a member of the User Experience & Product Design team and reports to the Director of Interaction Design.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Define the customer experience for existing and new site applications that establish and adhere to site conventions and standards.
-Understand customer needs, as well as business and functional requirements. Work closely with the product management team to define product requirements.
-Create detailed design and functional specifications (storyboards, workflows, mockups, prototypes, specifications) that effectively communicate the information design and interaction design. Work with user researchers to gather data on the designs and iterate.
-Collaborate with visual designers, content strategists and engineering teams to implement your designs.
QUALIFICATIONS
-4+ years experience working as a senior-level interaction designer or information architect for web or software applications. Experience working on ecommerce products is a plus.
-Solid understanding of the fundamentals of user interface design; should have experience working through the entire product life cycle and be familiar with user-centered design methods. Experience with EBay Power Tools, Yahoo Stores, Amazon Stores, or other consumer oriented console offerings would be beneficial.
-Ability to create detailed, thorough and clear specification documents.
-Knowledgeable of best practices of all major best of breed web-based interfaces.
-A blend of big picture design ideas with detail orientation, and an obsession for consistency
-Logical, analytical thinking
-Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, DHTML, Flash and web 2.0 interactions and technologies.
-BA/BS in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or related field or equivalent work experience. Masters or other advanced degrees are a plus.
-Proficiency with Omnigraffle, InDesign, Office and Acrobat.
-Clear, organized writing, communication, and presentation skills
